Sylvia Allegretto is an economist and co-chair of the Center on Wage and Employment Dynamics at the University of California, Berkeley—CWED is a research center housed at the Institute for Researcher on Labor and Employment. Sylvia is an expert on minimum and subminimum wages. Other interests include teacher pay, long-term unemployment, public employee compensation, and low-wage labor markets. Sylvia closely tracks the economy with particular interest in typical workers and how they are faring.
