As part of its broad vision to build a Culture of Health in the U.S., the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (RWJF) created the Policies for Action (P4A) research program. P4A’s goal is to develop the evidence base on policies, laws, system interventions, and community dynamics that improve population health, well-being, and potentially achieve health equity. This September, the Urban Institute partnered with RWJF in assuming the role of the P4A national coordinating center (NCC).

Policies for Action (P4A) is proud to announce the funding of its first six grantee projects. Founded in 2015, P4A funds research identifying policies, laws, and regulations in the public and private sectors that can support the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation’s (RWJF’s) mission to build a Culture of Health. As a part of this effort, the following projects are now underway:
The Urban Institute began operating the Policies for Action (P4A) National Coordinating Center (NCC) on September 1, 2016. The Urban team has taken on the administrative functions of the NCC, including grants administration, meeting logistics and coordination, and communication and dissemination support. The Urban team will continue in its role as a research hub focused on housing and food sector policies; state fiscal and income-related policies; and health care policies.
