2018-2021

The Policies for Action Research Hub led by the Institute for Women’s Policy Research and the University of California, Berkeley, focuses on income enhancement and workplace policies that help working parents, especially those struggling to make ends meet, to have the time and financial resources to protect and invest in their family’s health.

The hub has developed a research portfolio that investigates: (1) economic policies that enhance the family incomes and health of low wage workers, and (2) workplace regulations and leave policies that allow all workers to care for their families in times of special need and enhance their health. The hub will focus on new and cutting-edge research designs to see how minimum wage laws, scheduling reforms, state and federal tax benefits, and paid leave policies impact the health and well-being of families in the immediate- and long-term. In addition, the hub will produce several “rapid-response” projects to dramatically expand the quantity, quality, and visibility of policy-relevant research that shows improvements in the health of working families.
